Update 12/9/21:
We have been asked about our practice’s recommendations with regards to masking in schools.
Due to the circulating and highly contagious Delta variant, we at Holliston Pediatric Group are in agreement with the CDC recommendation for universal indoor masking by all students (age 2 and older), staff, teachers, and visitors to K-12 schools, regardless of vaccination status.
For more information on CDC guidance for Covid-19 prevention in K-12 schools, go to: https://www.cdc.gov/…/schools-childcare/k-12-guidance.html
The physicians at Holliston Pediatric Group are committed to keeping your child safe and making the best recommendations regarding mask wearing and vaccines during the COVID pandemic based on CDC and AAP guidelines.
Holliston Pediatric Group Mask and COVID Vaccine Policy
The following categories of people are exempt from the requirement to wear a mask:
- A child under the age of 2 years
- A person with a disability who cannot wear a mask, or cannot safely wear a mask, for reasons related to the disability
- A person for whom wearing a mask would create a risk to workplace health, safety, or job duty as determined by the workplace risk assessment
The following categories of people are exempt from receiving the COVID vaccine:
- If you have had a severe allergic reaction or an immediate allergic reaction to any ingredient in an mRNA COVID-19 vaccine
- If you are allergic to PEG (polyethylene glycol)
- If you are allergic to polysorbate, you should not get the J&J/Janssen COVID-19 vaccine
Here are a few things to know about Holliston Pediatric Group’s policies and recommendations:
- Holliston Pediatric Group physicians will not write a mask exemption letter for any patient with circumstances outside of the reasons listed above. If your child has difficulty wearing a mask, we suggest you work with the school to find a solution. To support parents in this effort, your physician at Holliston Pediatric Group may write a letter confirming a patient’s diagnosis if it relates in some way to mask wearing, which you can then relay to the school.
- Holliston Pediatric Group physicians strongly recommend the COVID-19 vaccine for all eligible persons (12 yrs. and older). We will not write vaccine exemption letters for any patient with circumstances outside of the reasons listed above. While we are not able to offer the vaccine right now, vaccines are available at many pharmacies and health departments. You can also search for a vaccine at the vaxfinder.mass.gov website.
